The Denver Experience

The other day when I was posting cards I forgot a card I made for some friends who have a small farm out east of town. I love the look on this card it is very country and well the colors worked well together. All supplies on this card are Stampin' UP.
Just a reminder to anyone interested the new Mini Catalog for Stampin' UP will be coming out soon so if you would like one please contact me and I will make sure you are on the mailing list. I did get to preview it and well, it is by far the BEST ONE yet!!

So saturday me, Christy, Cathy and Kim went to Denver to a Stampin' Event-after a late start, my fault and many cups of coffee we made it. We did learn some new tricks, got to see some great idea, and the best part is I got to see Kim speak to the public-She is a riot. Yes we did do some goofing off. This was the first time I had ever been to an event like this- now mind you we did not stay for the whole thing (Colorado weather was a changing) I got some great ideas for future project'

The ladies! A quick break while setting up the table of projects that Kim, Christy and Cathy have made. Cathy making the table look pretty! Thank you ladies for a fun Saturday!

A Day with Paper

I finally got a day off of work and spent the whole day and into the night playing with paper. I did "borrow" ideas from various sites that I visit and then changed up some stuff. One site that I just love is Beauty Lies Within-Mary Jo has so much talent and her work always look FABULOUS!!-Then for the Bloomin' Blues Card I did a new technique (for me) Cracked Glass! I made this card for my friends birthday- She to is a Master of the Art of Stamping so it is very intimidating to make something for her so I do hope she likes it. Then as I watched the 5 p.m. news I learned that the is changing and well I made some fall cards- and a graduation card. As I sit here and type this up I realize that aside from laundry I had a most perfect day-a day in my stamp room doing weather what I love. So here are the pictures of what I created today and I hope you like them-but please remember that all the ideas were "borrowed"- And yes all products are Stampin' UP!

Thank you

Playing with Shimmer Paint

Well as I was trying to figure out some cards to make for my work family-I kept starring at my shimmer paint thinking "what can I do with this" then I remembered a technique my friend Kim taut me - so this is the card I created I hope you like.
All supplies Stampin' UP-
Paper used was: Naturals White (102310)
Bravo Burgundy (105123)
I took the filigree stamp from the Friends 24-7 (113218) -this step is the fun part- take 2-3 drops of Bravo Burgundy ink refill (105226) an add about 4-5 drops of Shimmer paint- I used Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (116806)-then I painted this mixture onto the stamp and stamped randomly to the Bravo Burgundy. I did this same technique to the flower stem from Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set (111490)- I did stamp this image over the filigree stamp that was done with VersaMark (102283) this was for added dimension. After layering the card to my liking I added some ribbon - Organza Ribbon (114319) . Then just add a sentiment of your choice. I hope you like this card.

Spooky Cards

Well it is that time of year when we get our Spooky on-I have been busy making cards for friends and family, and having fun. Above it a card for my nieces; I used Kraft card stock and Black card stock, I stamped the image in Black Craft Ink and Embossed with Clear embossing powder- The images are stamped using the stamp sets From The Crypt and En Francais.
This card was done using some more of my favorite things: the card stock used is: Naturals White- the background paper is Night & Day Specialty-Love this paper, it is so yummy! I then stamped the image onto tissue paper with Shimmer Paint, then embossed it with Clear Embossing-this gave the card a ghostly look!! Then I made a large yo-yo and tied some Black Grosgrain Ribbon on the card-It is one of my favorite cards.
Now for my favorite card: This card has lots going on- I used Basic Grey Card Stock, and Black Card Stock-Then I took Nouveau Chic DSP and stamped over it with Platinum Shimmer Paint using the From the Crypt stamp sent-this gave the background paper some dimension. The Skull image is stamped using Black Craft and embossed with Clear Embossing- then I distressed the image-attached to black added Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon and a sentiment. I LOVE this card-so much I did not give it away!

I do hope you like the projects I have posted today-all supplies are Stampin' UP and if you are interested in any of the projects please let me know I would love to help you out!

It's About Time!

Last week I finally got a chance to play in my Stamping Room and I created the following card:

I had to have the Herb Expressions Stamp set (113224-32.95) so out it came . I love the look of the herbs and the saying that come with this set. I stamped the image onto confetti white card stock using Stazon. I then used the blender pens and colored in the image. Then I broke out the Big Shot, I love this tool; taking the Finial Press embossing folder ,this item is exclusive to Stampin' UP and a must have in your stamping room, I emossed the Lavender Lace paper. This give the paper a great texture.
I then stamped a butterfly and attached to the card. Finished if off with Organza Ribbon.
All items used on this card are found in the Stampin' UP Idea Book & Catalog 2009-2010 here is a list of the items used:
Great Friends Stamp Set -113792-17.95
Stampin' UP Finial Embossing Folder-115963-7.95
Organza Ribbon - 114319 - 5.95
Big Shot Die-Cut Machine - 113439- 99.95

You can use any color paper and or ink. I used a blender pen to color my image.

You can purchase all these items by clicking on the Stampin' UP link - this will connect to the online ordering.

Thank you for your time

Back from travels

Well I am now back from Bermuda and its time to get Stampin'. I have so many projects to get started on for the holiday season. Well on vacation I cam across some great ideas for gifts as well and will start putting those together soon. This picture shows the fabulous sunset and my good friend Val.

At this time I am working on getting my class schedule up and going and out to my many customers. These classes will include: Scrapbook classes, a holiday canvas class, tile classes and yes Christmas Card classes. If we start now Christmas will be a stress free time. I can teach how to make gifts for under $5 per person, even Wal-Mart cannot do that!

I would also like to THANK all my customers and supporters for all you do for me. I love teaching you a great craft and look forward to coming up with new ideas for you!

Here is a card that I have made prior vacation:
I used supplies from the new Catalog and just played around with water coloring and some brads. I love the Ivory Hardware on this picture it gives it a great look.

It's June Already

Well it seems that I have let May go by-not sure what I have been doing, I have done some great cards for friends and now I should mail them out.
I got this stamp set Classy & Fabulous so I got to work making a classy card. I used Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and the Black was from Taste of Textiles. I used a blender pen to color in the pictures, and then added the Lovely Organza Ribbon (this is my favorite ribbon). I feel the pictures came out GREAT!! So tonight I will clean out my stash of cards so that I can make way for new ones-It is June now, as the Stamp' UP community knows the new catalog will be out in July, so I need to use up my "old" stuff so that I can play with new stuff.

More Snow

Well today brings more snow to the Palmer Ridge in Colorado, so the best thing to do when it snows...STAMP. I feel in love with the stamp set Sense of Time from the Occasions Mini Catalog. As I began playing with paper I came up with this card, very nice to give to a man. Love the To The Nines Specialty Paper, and I feel that is looks GREAT with the Always Artichoke paper and Chocolate Chip paper. I used the Sahara Sand as well, an underused paper in my opinion and well this is what came out and I love it. You may have noticed some of the Hodgepodge Hardware, I did use the antique brass, it just fit to well.

This card is done with 2 different stamp sets, I used Scene in a Garden, the occasions mini catalog, and Blooming with Love. Since we are getting close to Mothers Day I felt the need to combine the two to make what I feel is a great card. I stamped the images with Stazon, then water colored the images and did some cutting out of flowers and the wheel barrel. Attaching with the dimensionals gave it a great look. I attached a Filigree flower brad to the wheel and it gave the card another WOW look. Love it!!!! Now I will have to send it to my mom for Mothers Day, but I have some time to enjoy it first!!!!

Last card of the day is made with the Echoes of Kindness Hostess set. I say a card in a magazine that had some of the same styles as this using other products. So last night I was thinking "what do I have that would make this card just a beautiful but using Stampin' UP product"? As you can tell I did find lots of great items to use. The papers I used were Sage Shadow, Pink Pirouette and Naturals Ivory. I then broke out the Big Shot, the Stampin' Up Backgrounds I has the swirly background that I love, then I started stamping and blending, grabbed some brads, the Vintage ones of course, and did some punching with the Eyelet Border. In the end this came out to be a great card that can be used for a birthday or Mothers Day.

So please if you are a stamper and snowed in -play and just put stuff together and you will be amazed at the great projects you can make.

Thank you and keep Stampin

Stampin on a Snowy Day

Good Morning Friends,
Today finds me catching up on my blog site before I head off to work. I did find time on Easter Sunday to stamp some great cards for friends. It was easy to do seeing that we had about 8 inches of snow fall and it was coming down in big fluffy flakes.
This first card I made with the Just Beachy set from the occations mini catalog and I love it- I used Turquoise paper and Whisper White, and paper from the Pink Flamigo DP, I did a little blender pen action and well I think it came out real cute. Yes that is the palm tree from Aloha, this card was mad for a man and I did not think the flip flops would work. I found that I love the colors used in the Pink Flamigo paper, they are a good way to break out of your box and play with bright colors.
One of my husband friends has a birthday this month, I have a hard time making male cards-So I found my Lovely as a Tree stamp set and went to work. I used some of the Taste of Textile Papers (love this paper) it gives a great layer of dimension to the card. The main tree is embossed, with a clear embossing-then I just found some Kraft card stock and one of the prints from the Manchester paper collection. After layering all the parts it needed more-so black twine and a piece of hardware finished it off. I like this card. It is simple with a WOW factor, my husband even gave it a Thumbs up!

Lastly I made a Thank You card for a friend who helped me plan a trip. I used my favorite hostess set the Rustic Rooster. I did the silk technique to the letter then aged it with some chocolate chip, after that I used the Bella Toile background stamp on the black and then put the card together. The paper I used was Naturals Ivory, black and More Mustard. This combination of paper gave the card an "old world" look and that was what I was looking for.
Thank you for viewing my projects may you have fun creating great things with paper.

Good Afternoon Friends:

Well it has been some time since I posted a note, I have been doing nothing so I have no excuse. We did have some snow this weekend that has already started to melt off. We had about 14 inches up here at the house and my Tikki Bar was covered with the fluffy stuff .

So this past weekend I took some time to stamp up some cards and make a scrapbook page:

I made the first card using Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirouette, Black as an accent color and one of my favorite stamp sets Humor in High Heels --I just began playing with the colors and well a great card came about. The other card is make with Tangerine Tango, I felt a need to use this color I have not used it before and well I realized that I have not use the stamp set: Organic Outlines so I put the 2 together and came up with this card and well I kinda like it. it has a very contemporary to it.

The scrapbook page is a version of the page in the Stampin' UP Catalog Spring-Summer 2009. I loved the scrapbook page on page 21, however I did not have all the supplies to make it just as pictured. So I played with great colors, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst; I used the hostess set Dream a Little, and then added a flower using the Stampin' UP! Flower Burst. I love this page, it is very spring like and easy to make. We made this page in my Scrapbook Club this month and the Ladies loved it.

My next class will be a fun one that uses fun colors and lots of accessories for added bling. The name of the Class is A Trip to the Forest. In this class you will make a box that holds 6 note cards and decorated envelopes. I am looking forward to teaching this project it was so much fun to make.
Well enjoy your weekend!!!

Happy Stamping
Lisa

Hello All,
Yes it has been a while since I posted so as I sit here and reflect on the past month I realize that it went by very quick and I did get some projects done, including making curtains for my nephew (every kid needs Transformer Curtains). I have been playing with my new stamp sets, so far one of my new favorites is Sip By Sip. This set is retro fun as you can see I did some of my own work as well as mixing up some others great ideas.

I love the Chocolate card it is so perfect to give to someone who is having a rotten day; I am sure this would make anyone smile. So now as I sit here and reflect on the weekend that has past I have to think of what I will teach on Friday. I am looking forward to having friends over to make more great things with paper. Have a great week. Thanks for taking time to check out my site.

Canvas Class

One Friday night my friends and I got together and made some great Canvas's-this art project was done by taking pictures to a new level - these canvases are fun to make and well I think they look great.

I have been busy with life and not much with cards lately however I did find all kinds of time this weekend to get caught up. I made some cards for Valentines Day, and yes I did send them out late. Then I made some more canvases for my family. They came out better then I thought, so now I have to get things mailed off. This is Bailee one of niece Bailee- I like the greens in this picture- I will be giving this to her mother for being a good friend.

Thursday my friend Barbara came by and we made some cards for her to give for Valentines Day and for a birthday. I had bar rowed the stamp set from a friend and then I got to play with my embossing plates and my big shot this was so much fun. the Hunter Green is embossed with a plate that makes it look like wood in the forest. This card came out great!

Saturday came around and well it found me in the kitchen, cooking for my great husband. I made Osso Buco with saffron risotto for dinner that was a very good meal. We had a good night a quiet night with the man I love that was the perfect Valentines Day. Today finds me finishing laundry and catching up with all my "duties"- I have posted more classes on my Stampin' UP site and will be creating more great projects for the future. Have a great day everyone and I will keep you posted. Lisa

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Well today I have no pictures to share- I finally got the program I needed to make Vista work with Outlook, so today I was reading email and getting caught up that way. I did begin to play with my Corel Paint Shop Pro x2 program and was having fun with that. I am getting to understand how these things work, for me this has been a long road -I am not the computer girl so slowly I am taking the steps needed to get there. This week I am having a canvas class so next Sunday there will be pictures to post.
Have a good week

A Day of Card Making

Well today I decided to make some cards, so I headed downstairs to "craft world" and set out to crate great things. I had my cup of coffee and the T.V. was set to the football game. I then settled in for a marathon session in card making. I felt that I have neglected my friends and have not sent out anything since Christmas so I have lots of making up to do. This card will get sent to my in-laws, they sent my husband some bread pans that have been in his family for many years. I water colored this card, then I distressed it, I used Urban Garden Paper, Kiwi Kiss, Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and So Saffron inks. I rummaged through my collection of gadgets and bling and this is what came out. I like it and think it has a great look to it.

This next card was made for a friend of Rik's, he gave us some wine that he makes at his vineyard in California. The wine was great so I felt he deserved a card. I did use a stamp that has retired, but it was most appropriate for this situation. Some times you have to look in your closet and see what is there.
I then decided to make a card for a friend of mine, and well this was a quick card to make and I kept it all to two colors; Basic Grey and Whisper White. I did add some bling with the Build a Brad and used some Bravo Burgundy to make the brad. I had to color the ribbon to get the color i wanted. A fast card to make and it looks great!

My next card of the night came out of the Stampin'UP Catalog, I feel in love with this card and felt I can do it. With the help of my friend Christy I was able to figure it out. I did use craft ink to do the vase portion then embossed it, this gave it an antique look. I did water color the rest of this card, I love to water color it makes be just go off into a world all my own. The hardest part of the card is deciding what colors to use!!!
The last card I made had a rooster on it!!!! For those who know me they understand that I have a love of Roosters, so this set is my new favorite. I used the cooper paper and embossed it with a clear embossing powder, then I embossed the Bella Rose Designer Paper as well as black paper. I did use a none Stampin'Up ribbon in this project. I still love the look, it reminded me of France lots of the same colors are used in many home kitchens and that was the look I trying to get.
So my overall day was a good one, and I may even continue to play in "craft world" tonight and see what else I can come up with.
